Table tennis got under my skin the way few sports do. It started as something to do between study sessions; a table in the common room, a cheap paddle, no idea what I was doing. But the more I played, the more I wanted to understand it properly: the physics of spin, why certain rubbers behaved differently, how the world’s best players constructed points so differently from each other.

I’m Kifayat Shah, the founder of RacketInsiders. What began as casual play gradually turned into a deeper curiosity about how the sport truly works, and a growing frustration that no single place treated it seriously without being either too academic or too shallow. Equipment guides that actually explained the trade-offs. Technique breakdowns that went beyond “bend your knees.” Player profiles that told you something meaningful about how professionals actually play, not just a list of titles.

RacketInsiders.com is my attempt to build that resource, written through continuous learning, match observation, and hands-on experience with modern table tennis equipment, for readers who want more than surface-level content.

What You’ll Find Here

RacketInsiders.com is organized to help readers explore table tennis clearly and practically, whether they are learning the fundamentals or refining advanced aspects of their game. Each section focuses on a specific part of the sport while contributing to a deeper overall understanding. This site is built around four content pillars, each designed to serve a specific need:

  • Table Tennis Basics: Clear explanations of rules, history, governing bodies, and foundational concepts for newcomers and enthusiasts who want a deeper understanding of the sport.
  • Techniques & Guides: Step-by-step breakdowns of serves, strokes, spins, footwork, and match strategies. Written for players at every level, from beginners learning fundamentals to intermediate players refining consistency and control.
  • Equipment & Gear: Honest, detailed guides to rackets, blades, rubbers, and tables. We analyze specifications, ITTF regulations, and real-world performance to explain what actually matters for different playing styles and skill levels, not just what the spec sheet says.
  • Player Spotlight: In-depth looks at the careers, playing styles, equipment setups, and tactical identities of the world’s best. Understanding elite players is one of the fastest ways to improve your own decision-making at the table.

Our Editorial Standards

Every article on RacketInsiders is written or reviewed to a consistent standard: if we wouldn’t stake our reputation on a claim, we don’t publish it.

Our content draws on real playing experience, established coaching principles, and detailedanalysis of professional-level match play, so the guidance here reflects how table tennis is actually played and taught, not just theorized about. In practice, that means:

  • Technical specifications are verified against ITTF official documentation and manufacturer data.
  • Equipment assessments are based on real handling experience, not spec sheets alone.
  • Technique guidance is grounded in established coaching principles and direct player observation.
  • Articles are reviewed and updated when rules, equipment standards, or competitive trends change, because outdated information can mislead players as easily as no information at all.

A Note on Equipment Recommendations

Some links on this site are affiliate links, which means we may earn a small commission if you purchase through them at no extra cost to you. This never influences what we recommend. Equipment is suggested based on genuine suitability and practical value, just as it would be to a player seeking honest advice. If something isn’t worth buying, we’ll tell you.
